Title: Yorkshire Dales walk advice please
Post by: telbert on 09:44:00, 26/11/18
Hi all, i'll be spending a few days in York over the weekend and want to get a few miles in on the Yorkshire Dales. I'm looking to spend maybe 3,4 hours walking hopefully somewhere a bit scenic with maybe a village or two on the way. Ill be driving in from York and returning the same way so a starting / finishing point close to the direct route would be very handy.
 Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

Simon's seat from Bolton Abbey via the Valley of Desolation then returning via Strid Wood is a great walk that springs to mind. Bolton Abbey is about an hour fifteen from York on the A59. If the weathers not that great, There is a wonderful river walk to Appletreewick via Strid Wood and Barden Tower
