Holme and Black fell
« on: 19:21:37, 16/11/17 »
On a previous walk in the southern Lakes I had climbed Dow crag and the old man of Coniston. On that day I remembered that I had climbed Black fell two years earlier in cloud with zero visibility. Whilst climbing the old man of Coniston, I decided that my next clear day walk would be Black and Holme fell. I started at Skelwith Bridge and picked up the CW in the direction of Holme Fell. I left the CW and made my way past disused reservoirs to Holme fell's summit. Following a circular route, I descended to Tarn Hows before picking up the CW again to climb Black Fell. After admiring the views of the southern fells, I returned to Skelwith Bridge and got the 516 service back to Ambleside. The walk illustrated that you don't have to climb a higher peak to obtain great views. Total distance was 10 miles.
