Title: TR Binsey Sat 21 Dec 19
Post by: April on 18:22:02, 24/12/19
Day walks again at the weekend, low cloud, a wet and windy weather forecast didn't make wild camping very attractive. We parked at Binsey Lodge to do a new Wainwright for Squeaky, Binsey.

On the way up Binsey

Low cloud was covering the fells as was forecast

Binsey and Longlands seemed to be the only fells that weren't covered in cloud

Almost at the summit

It was windy on the summit but hadn't been too bad on the way up.

It was dry, which was a relief. We retraced our steps back down to Binsey Lodge

Dash Falls can just about be seen in the gloom

This walk was just 2 miles and 190m of ascent. We did a further three miles from Briar Rigg in Keswick. We did a turn around the parks, Fitz Park, Upper Fitz Park and Hope Park. In between we had some coffee and cake in Mrs F's (well it is Christmas). I had the vegan chocolate cake and beefy had coffee and walnut cake. Delicious as usual  O0

We also bought some food for a homeless man who was sitting on the pavement in Keswick with HUNGRY written on a bit of card. He must have been freezing, it was pretty cold and the look of misery on the man's face was quite upsetting. I wish there was more we could do for him, I don't like feeling so helpless. I wonder where he will be spending Christmas?  :( Please spare a thought for those not as lucky as we are, it is said all of us are a couple of pay cheques away from homelessness and it could end up happening to anyone. Here are some charities that help the homeless if you can spare some money to help. It is the season of goodwill after all  :)

If I moan about the weather in future can you remind me that I am out in it by choice, I have a warm home to come back to.

Looks like a good viewpoint April.

And yes, there are a lot of people not able to enjoy the luxury of a warm house this winter.

I have been onto Binsey twice, it’s not an easy hill to incorporate into a round but worth the effort on a clear day for the views

Good photos April, a good choice of walk for a day when the higher fells are clagged in O0

Thanks Richard, the disparity between rich and poor in this country really gets to me at times.  :(
