Sorry to hear about your friend.  When I look back at what happened and the photos taken of where I fell I feel my luck was in that day as my injuries could have been very much worse.

Is it safe to assume that if you attempt the C2C again you won’t be taking this alternative scenic route and instead head past Black Sail?  :D :D

Don't you need to exorcise the ghost? :) it was below the scree then, just before the bottom?
On a personal note, still don't feel quite right again..it was a strange experience. Oddly got bitten a lot by horse flies this time when I normally don't.. nasty big [censored] all over the place from shunner fell all the way to shap

Yep, on the final descent into Scarth Gap, this is where I fell ... forwards onto this lot from about the top of the pic :D

At least that is a respectable place fall.I had a similar fall in Crowden Brook :-[ on the second day of the Pennine Way.Thankfully I managed to patch myself up and carry on,albeit at a slow pace.It was rather embarassing as I had been a rock climber before taking up walking.

The terrain you fell down is quite steep.Probably best to scramble down it so you can make use of the hands and quickly correct a mistake before things get too serious.

Yikes!  Did you do it with a full pike and double somersault or did you trade off artistic impression for degree of difficulty?

Ouch - that's nasty ground to take a tumble on.

Roughly although New Ing Lodge in Shap is closed in early March so I need to find somewhere else there. I'm also intending to miss out Scarth Gap  ;D
