Title: Derby walk
Post by: Marshy Pete on 14:07:49, 20/10/17
Hi
Am in North derby next week (near Darley Abbey).
I have a day out for walking and am looking for any suggestions.
I know I can get a bus from the Broadway, either one of the sixes or Transpeak.

Have maps for the area but would be grateful for any suggestions.

Not sure if this should be here or in another region.

Right, I haven't looked where those buses go, but looking at where you're going to be I can see that Carsingtons good - a reasonable circular walk around the Reservoir with an option to go look at Carsington Meadows, or the southern Edges of the Peak District such as Ilam Hall, or if it needs to be near the main A road hows about going to Ashbourne and having a pootle along the Tissington Trail?

The 6.1 and the Transpeak would enable you to access the Monsal Trail. As well as the Trail itself, there's a beautiful walk by the River Wye below through Chee Dale, Millers Dale and Water-cum-Jolly Dale.

Here's a link to bus times and maps

I'd second what Dovegirl said - I use the Trans Peak bus sometimes when I'm working in Derby and it's a good service. Here's another link that you might find useful:

Some good suggestions so far. I'd like to add the cromford canal and the high peak trail, both on the trans peak bus route.

Hi
Thanks for your replies.
Unfortunately best laid plans and all that means I won't be able to spend as much time as I'd like on the walk.
I'll still go for a wander and will report back.
