No picture or price, sussamb, is it no longer available?

The list of ingredients looks like the contents of a kids' chemistry set.

But it includes a wet wipe for Welsh Rambler! (As in thread "The little things that make hiking so much better".)

Picture shows for me and yes, still available.  Used them on Pennine Way last year, about £4 iirc, although Cotswold price is £6.

Thanks. It must be my XP netbook, still not showing. I'll look on the 8.1 desktop tomorrow, my source of income is doing her invoices on it today.

300g for one meal makes a heavy 7 day trip. Environment friendly magnesium or aluminium heating?

Only needed them for a couple of meals, so not much difference between having to add stove etc.  I agree they're not a solution if you intend to cook throughout a long trip.

Some thoughtful soul had left one of the self heating meals in Ben Alder cottage bothy, a breakfast of sausage, bacon, beans and a weird eggy thing,  so I helped myself to it - it was pretty good but the heating process is a little alarming - I would not want to do  it in a tent.

As well as the weight, I think I'd get a bit bored with All Day Breakfast every day for a week! It would make a nice change from sandwiches on a cold day walk, though.

(Kim, are you Scandinavians familiar with the "Full English Breakfast", or do you only know smorgasbord?)

They do other meal too as well as Full English and Vegi breakfasts
http://www.beyondthebeatentrack.com/hot-meal-kits.html

and they also do the heating packs without the food which is similar to the original post.

The item in Peter's link seems to be modern take on the cotswolds one, You get five heaty uppy things and a rolluppable reusable container but no food.  Taking your own food to heat up is instantly better for you than the chemical infused dogsick in a bag meals (in my humblest of opinions  :D  ).

Pity Peter's link doesn't seem to give a price  :(

Ah Mel.  I take it you have not actually tried one of these meals yet then. They get better each year. It takes a very special type of factory to ruin beans and sausages. Sussamb is probably aware the forces have been using them for years. I believe that they have their place and it is handy to keep at least one in the knapsack  for one of those just in case moments. Safer to heat one of these up in a coffin tent than using a jet boil.             . (P.s. Mince and dumplings edible also.)
Too little, too late, too bad......

Sorry, can't help but think Fray Bentos pies....

(even my cat won't eat those!)

You're right though, I shouldn't knock it if I've not tried it  :-\

I still prefer Peter's link and take my own food though  :)

Baked beans are the ultimate in camping food. Filling, nutritious, and with the ability to taste, well, taste like baked beans. Their trye strength  lies in their  ability to smother the taste in other foodstuffs.  For example Tinned pies and baked beans.  O0 Couscous and baked beans.  :-X Two day old hard boiled egg and baked beans. :-[ The stealth ninja of stove top food is the baked bean.
