I used to start my walks from the visitors centre up to the track across Derwent dam
Past Howden  dam to cross the bridge to stop at Slippery stones and back to the centre .
Lots of lovely walking tracks trails in  Derwent Valley .

Nice pics pleb O0   I'll be up that way myself on Thursday.  Hoping there will be a lot of purple but not holding my breath!

Great report - Never seen the reservoir that low before.

I am going to the area next month (doing a tour of old favourites) and usually do the same route as Zizag.

When I loved In Glossop In 1970's .
I used to cycle to Derwent Valley for an outing to check it out Then Later on explored all the areas nearby off the Snake pass like Bleaklow ,Alport castles and Ladybower .
But found Derwent Valley a walking paradise .
And in the famous year of 1976  about 4 months of hot warm dry Scorchio weather the reservoirs were at the lowest I have ever seen even to this day .
Still think It's a magical place . Stunning scenery and such a variety of places to walk . I must go back very soon ,to partake again .
