Day 2

Morning view of Helvellyn

There was enough air movement to avoid too much condensation on the tent but I managed to knock over a pan of water that I'd just put on the stove (in the porch area) so we still ended up with a wet tent  ;D
It spilled onto my sleeping bag and mat but no harm done really. A wet bottom isn't that bad when you have a lovely sunny day in the Lake District to look forward to.

Ready to leave, gear packed away

Leave no trace.

On the way down to Scalehow Beck

What a glorious day.

Scalehow Force

Not that much water in it.

Descending to Sandwick

Looking back to Low Birk Fell

Entering Hallinhag Wood

There are lots of ups and down in the wood and our still tired legs were complaining.

The view from Kailpot Crag

We stopped for an early lunch in some trees well away from the path. A red squirrel darted from tree to tree above us but was too quick for us to get a photo.

Bonscale Pike as we rounded Hallin Fell

We'd seen a handful of people and we all kept well away from each other.

Howtown below Bonscale Pike

The last bit of the walk was uphill back to The Hause and the car. Lots of cars again, everyone was making the most of the nice weather while we all can.

Day 2 was Kilbert How - Scalehow Beck - Sandwick - Hallinhag Wood - Waternook - The Hause. 4 miles and 250m ascent. Back home after unpacking our gear it was still early so we went to Talkin Tarn and had a walk around the tarn, another 1.5 miles.

Just as well we made the most of it with the news from last night. Looks like it is Gelt Woods for the next three weeks. Assuming I am allowed to drive the ten minutes it takes to get there  :-\

Another grand round with clear pics and a good pitch, in the nick of time too.  O0

Three weeks seems very optimistic but we'll see. Very much longer for us unfortunately.

Good that you managed to get a last wild camp in before the lockdown, April. I particularly like your shots from Place Fell to Helvellyn from Place Fell (day 1).

..and wasn't Sunday gorgeous?

Great Pics and Tr April. O0
Glad you managed a night out before the lockdown.
There are lots of interesting little bumps to explore on that side of Place Fell it's just a pity you didn't get a sunset because they can be really good from there.

Three weeks seems very optimistic but we'll see. Very much longer for us unfortunately.

I can't think beyond 3 weeks at the mo  :'( If people would only do what the government are asking this thing will not last as long.

I hope this virus doesn't spoil our trip in may  :(

Easter is going to be pants, I hope we can get away in May

..and wasn't Sunday gorgeous?

It was  :)

It's going to be hard for the next few weeks. :(

Torture  :(

Glad you managed a night out before the lockdown.

So are we. The weather will be fabulous while this lockdown is in place I bet  :(

You picked another great set of views to share with us.

We were lucky to get a good weekend  :)

I guess that those pictures may have to keep us going for a while.

I will try and be creative when I do the walk from my front door on Sat and Sun  :D

I am going to plan walks and wild camps for when this is over to keep my spirits up  :(

You have been unlucky your last couple of trips. I hope this Covid business is over soon so we can get out before the summer is over  :(
