Yesterday I met my old mate Herbie at Marsden station (beyond Huddersfield in the pennines) for a trip to the pub, er I mean "a ramble on a fine day".
naked breasts! lol
Autumn colour, what a great season we are having
Close Gate bridge, on our way to Willykay clough
this was Dinner stone or Millstone edge or somewhere up there
Herbie on the rocks! lol
superb clear views
Redbrook reservoir?
Herbie took me on a detour, think this waterfall was at GR051085, clearly some remnant of industrial quarrying, or summat.
very twisty windy path! Wonder if the 2 pensioners have made it out yet................
Wessenden reservoir(?)
Blakeley res? above...........it was getting rather gloomy, Herbie helpfully decided on a detour over the bracken, cue me falling down a pothole and rolling flat on my [censored] n getting me knees wet on the boggy ground, the first time I ever fell out hiking!
Last time I trust you to navigate, ya berk!
the controversial renovation work on the spillway of Butterley reservoir. We wnt down some steps to visitthe post industrial buildings, on his guidance..................path was closed due to the work n we helpfully have to go up steep steps other side to get back out!
it shouldn't be allowed, there oughta be a law against it! Thanks Herbie
just what ya need to struggle up after 10 miles...................
after that twas off to the Riverhead brewery tap in Marsden for a couple of pints of the terrific redbrook premium bitter. We foolishly tried a half each of "White Rat". Yuk. Don't think wheat beer is my thing, somehow.
Great day, shame about the wind!
My bus back to Hudds wasn't showing so eventually I made a dash for the 18.29 train back............the bus helpful goin past as I was between stops!
Caught the train, free ride to Huddersfield
so it wasn't all bad news.
