Welcome from Shetland. Good luck with your big walk and enjoy the walks building up to it. Remember they're not just training they're to be enjoyed.

Welcome, from Hampshire, but Hull born and bred  O0

As others have said, there are great day walking opportunities in the Wolds and Moors.

Welcome from Orkney.

Lots of good country within an hour or two's drive of Hull! In particular, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.

Welcome from a small market town east of Hull.

What the Y.Wolds lack in high heights they make up for by being up then down, then up again, then down again, oh, some up, aaaand more down.  You can probably climb the equivalent of Whernside on an 8 mile walk.

Some good hill walks within half an hour of Hull are South Cave, Brantingham, Welton.  Plus the coast path further up near Brid, Flamborough and Scarborough.

Failing that, there's always the stairwells up Great Thornton Street flats  ;)
