Thanks to those of you who replied to my message. I believe I need in the range of 54 explorer maps for LEJOG, crikey!!! Has anyone got any redundant maps they want to sell?

Alan Sloman used electronic mapping - just printed off and laminated the bits he needed. 54 Maps would cost you around £350 to £375, so, financially, its worth considering electronic maps which should be somewhat cheaper and a fair bit lighter.

keyham books posted on this forum on 16 December to publicise a scheme for exhanging unwanted maps.

You'd have to consider how you're going to access the maps whilst on the walk - you wouldnt want to carry 54 Landrangers - too much space taken up and, I reckon the weight would be 2.7kg - about the same as a 2 man backpacking tent.

Incidentally, there's a lass called Gayle who's also planning a Lejog walk and she's blogging on gayleybird.blogspot.com. She might be worth consulting with....
