TR the fourth walk from my door Sun 5 Apr 20
« on: 19:47:02, 06/04/20 »
On Sunday I walked west along the A69 and joined the footpath near Tesco that leads to the river

Here is the map for this area

The footpath leading to the River Eden

It was very dry underfoot, I'd expected it to be muddy.

The River Eden

There were a few people about here, much busier than yesterday's walk

What we used to call the Bridge of Death, has now been repaired

Its new name is The Bridge of Death That Has Been Repaired. I had thought I might have to turn back here because the fb has been closed so I hadn't really planned the walk. I decided to keep going west. It wasn't as nice as the walk from yesterday, I could hear the traffic on the motorway and the traffic on the A69.

Swans

The northern fells from the riverside path

That is Skiddaw on the right

Stony Holme Golf Course

People like playing golf in Carlisle, this is another golf course within a few miles of the other one from yesterday. The footpath enters the golf course but still stays close to the river, well the ROW I continued on does.

Tree in blossom

I crossed the Memorial Footbridge and walked along the river bank in Rickerby Park. There were a lot of runners and walkers but nowhere near as busy as it would be normally.

Eden Bridge Gardens

The wind got really strong all of a sudden. I turned around and made my way back home again.

Heron in Rickerby Park

I had to fight against the wind all the way home. The walk was about 8 miles. The sound of the traffic on the M6 and along the A69 spoils this walk a bit but it was good leg stretch.

Nice photos again, April. We even have two golf courses here in Grange - one of them was underwater for weeks, mind you.

I tried golf out a few times, but never really took to it. Mu epiphany came whilst a member was kindly taking me for a round at Betws y Coed golf course one fine summer evening - about half way around I looked up at the forests on the hillside above and though "I would much rather be up there". Never played again - and subsequently got banned from the club house, but that is another story....  >:D

Lovely photos. I don't know why seeing a photo of a real map pleases me so much, but it does.

Hate golf courses, they put in loads of extra paths and obliterate the rights of way.

The paths down here have dried out amazingly too considering how incredibly muddy they were until not that long ago.

Stony Holme was under water when we had all that rain a month or so ago too

subsequently got banned from the club house, but that is another story....  >:D

;D You will have to tell it sometime  :)

I didn't mind these over the weekend, no people on the courses trying to hit you with golf balls  :D

I feel I know this walk, due to the train service! Repaired the bridge, cool.  :)

Some nice photos. Unfortunately my early morning exercise walks aren't anywhere nearly as interesting.
