The Pennine Way is on my mind, I'm not really bothered about campsites, I can wild camp, (I have my own shower with me) what bothers me most is pubs not being open. Terrible thought.

Patience GWM, patience - it will come, but you may have to sit outdooors.  I can already get beer and food from my local, I just can't go inside.

There's been some talk in the media today of pubs opening in a limited way on the 22nd June, bought forward 2 weeks from early July. Don't know whether that is official, though, or maybe just the usual spin from a Government source to gauge the reaction.

If they do open that will create a new problem for me, would I dare go in?

If the weather is nice you won't need to.

Initially, you won't be allowed to - it will be beer gardens and marquees only. Don't know what they will be doing about toilets.

Bear in mind that lockdown is being relaxed much more slowly in Scotland, you might not get your free pint in Kirk Yetholme!

That would probably get me merry now...not bothered drinking at all since pubs closed.

Will have to gradually get used to booze again once pubs re-open

Ooh, swizz. I got a pint about 5 years ago, perhaps it was looking pathetic and feminine and as if I needed building up.

Actually as per the original post, I was more concerned about the information circulating that  campsite at Crowden not being opened this season for those planning to stay there if backpacking the PW.....it's useful to know because it's a long way from Edale to the next stop and even further for a pint!

I've invested in a hip flask. I remember being at Crowden, a nice but dry site.
