TR Kinder Scout circuit
« on: 00:35:59, 25/06/19 »

I am working in Buxton for a couple of weeks, as I have done for the past 10 years.

Sorry, not time for a proper TR but some pictures from last Saturdays walk. Hayfield to Edale cross then up on to Kinder. Along the south edge to Nether Tor near Ringing Rodger before heading north across country to walk back along the northern edge of the plateau, down William Clough and back to Hayfield. 16 miles in 6.25 hours.
The southern side of Kinder was like Piccadilly Circus where as the northern edge I hardly saw an other person.

That's a fair old walk on Kinder is that Mark. I always find the southern edge very busy, the paths here are firmer and well defined. Whereas the northern edge tends to get pretty soft and deep peat bogs, especially after a wet spell. But as you say, much quieter.

I haven't been up there for a good while, so hope to see more photos from you Mark  O0

Usually the case, the northern edge has a wilder and more remote feel being farther from the reach of Edale. For even less people, i.e. almost guaranteed none, visit the summit.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Sorry Sunnydale, I don't think it is my fault.
A&B, if yo are in the Peaks it is definitely worth a visit.

It feels like the southern edge used to when I first walked there. That makes me sound ancient!

Nice photos, lovely area to walk, and where hill walking all started for me many years ago. Thanks for making the effort and sharing Mark  O0

A great set of photos, Ridge - you can't beat the northern edge of Kinder, it's a wonderful place to walk.  O0 :)

Nice piccies (eventually!) Ridge.  Wasn't Hayfield to Edale Cross the way up we went on the "Cuddly Kinder" meet?
