The National Trust campsites in Langdale and Wasdale are good (if you're camping that is).  If your experience is limited, Scafell Pike can be  a bit of a challenge.  If the weather improves, it shouldn't be too bad though it's worth saving for a good day id you've got the time.

Vaseline? To prevent chafing?

I used to chafe badly until I purchased a few pairs of these (including Long John versions for when it's colder)

This a link for what I got, I didn't buy them from here, I used a local place (castle mountain and
moor). Helly Hansen Lifa boxers if the link doesn't work.

Slightly weird to wear as you sweat. You stop moving for a bit then you feel dry again. They do work though.

I'll be doing the 17 mile high peak trail in Nov for the British Heart Foundation. I'll be wearing the HH stuff as a base layer (i'll be wearing other stuff as well obviously).

These boots were made for walking so that's just what I'll do. After I've re-proofed them of course...

Vaseline has many uses, one good one would be when going to the toilet. You just rub a bit around your bum hole and it will stop any projectile from clinging to the sides making for a clean exit and less chance of tagnutage and you will need to use less toilet paper for wiping.

Please don't forget to wash your hands after application though!

Cotton wool saturated in Vaseline acts as a fire lighter.

Cragster, I have go to say that is one of the most upsetting things I have heard in a long time :o

Especially if you get the vaseline confused with your deep heat!!  :buck2:
