Spine race 2019 ( January )
« on: 19:02:34, 23/11/18 »
Hi Everyone , I have just become a member this evening .

I am trying to find out as much as possible about the Spine race 2019 - on here before I contact the official website , hopefully to possibly becoming a volunteer .
How much do volunteers have to pay , I believe it is discounted on entry ?

Do winners of the Spine race win a prize ?, any one with knowledge of the winter event  or information regarding the race , it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
wolfbane

The info you need is on their website, so you'd be better exploring that first then coming here if you have any queries.

Really?  I can tell you if you volunteer and are accepted one year you get a discount the next ...

There are no prizes as such but finishers get a medal.

Really though if that sort of detail is important to you it's probably not the race for you  ;)

..as I said , the website does not indicate the answers to question posted , and yes the questions are important to me , as I would like to know  the charges volunteers have to pay has it does not say ie is  £10 or £1000  who knows ? , the charges may not be important to you But iam sure most people paying any charges would like to know them beforehand as most people have budgets .

If you volunteer you pay nothing. If you compete the entry fees are listed.

As I said it's all on the website

You would have a be pretty dumb to pay to act as an unpaid volunteer! As far as I am aware volunteers don't get any payment but are offered a discount on next years race.I think realistically you need a budget of at least £3000 to enter and complete this race. This is the bare minimum,a £1000 to enter and the rest for travel and upgraded kit.Past races show that a lot of entrants fail due to poor quality kit or the wrong type of kit.

Well done for helping, I am sure that you will enjoy the experience.  Do you know where you will be working or do they move you around?

We move around basically surrounding/following the herd and in the advance when needed, plus some specific tasks that are shared between the 4 safety teams. One of my team's task for example is to man Gregg's Hut, another is to support the team at the Auchope Hut.
