On Saturday Rob Woodall became the first (and probably last) person to visit all 6190 extant Ordnance Survey triangulation pillars.

After reading that article.... good effort that man!!!  I never realised there were quite so many  :D
 
Once upon a time you could sponsor a trig point.  I think they should bring that back to maintain some of the sorry states I've seen on my meanders seeing as they are affectionate landmarks nowadays rather than anything functional or practical  :)

Its funny how you get started on some sort of hobby, if that's what to call it, as we started "collecting" trig points. Didn't last but everytime we see a new one when out and about it just has to be bagged!! ::) Our local one is one of those that is hidden in nettles, ivy, bracken and just not visible. We have it bagged tho  O0
Need to get out more  :D
