Crimpiau, Creigiau Gleision and Llyn Cowlyd
« on: 11:34:38, 03/03/18 »
Morning all,

This is a walk we did last weekend at the eastern end of the Ogwen Valley. It wasn't that long a route but it certainly packed a punch, with just shy of 4000 feet of ascent in total - including a lovely 1000 feet climb right near the end. I need to have a word with myself before I plot my next walk.  ;D

It started and ended at the Moel Siabod Cafe, which provided a well-tasty fry-up at the start and a big pot of tea & some crisps at the end. I can't believe I've never been there before, what a fantastic place to use as a base.

Anyway, some pics from the trip below:

Damned good read that, thank you. It’s a route I have looked at and thought about but not done, but we’re in Capel Curig in a couple of weeks again so maybe then if the weather is right  O0
Touching from a distance, further all the time.

Enjoyed your TR, it looks like a good walk for when you want to avoid too much snow, although it's probably a bit different this weekend!
Enjoy every sandwich

Cheers, Phil.  :)  It's a great day out - hopefully the visibility will be clearer for you as those views are breathtaking. Enjoy your trip but don't forget the gaiters, especially after all this snow!  ;D

Thank you!  :)   Yes, we were very lucky with the weather. If this cold snap had arrived a week earlier it would have knocked our plans on the head. It was actually quite warm in the sun last week!

Wonderful report and photos, thanks very much for that.

Cheers, Fernman.  O0

Thanks, Snakehips.  O0

It was quiet around there. Moel Siabod Cafe was really busy when we had breakfast there but we hardly saw anyone the rest of the day and no-one at all after we headed down to the lake - it was lovely and peaceful.  :)

I enjoyed that, thanks for posting O0  I really liked the pics and thought the haze helped to add depth to the views.

Great TR and photos adalard I didn't realise it was 4000ft of ascent I did this route a few years back after going up Siabod that explains why it felt like a slog towards the end
It was really boggy as I went up just after a thaw and one leg went into the bog up to my hip I was lucky to get it back!
It has some fantastic views up there and you certainly had the weather to capture the views on your photos
Thanks for sharing them I will have to make a return trip when it's had a dry period
