But a person known  to give ... ahem ... interesting 'advice'  ;)

Yes, but in this case could possibly be more dangerous than interesting. Time for some action?
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

The OP states that the route goes "up Tryfan south peak, along the Heather Terrace"
Tryfan Far South Peak is NOT Tryfan peak and there's a walking path around the South peak just to the left in the direction they'll be going (the one shown on the 1:25000 OS map to the right (East) of the Far South Peak is a bit scrambly and would be best avoided when carrying a large pack.)
So the whole 'up Tryfan' thing is a non-issue.

The start (heading North) of the Heather terrace path is very narrow in places and on the side of a steep slope. The path is a bit scrambly in places. It's no big deal but as you say it would be easier and more enjoyable when carrying a heavy pack to branch right off the Miner's track and go down Cwm Tryfan at GR 665584.

Also, Where the Miner's Track branches before crossing the path from Y Foel Goch to Glyder Fach at GR 668579 be sure to take the branch to the right. Both join back up by the branch to go down Cwm Tryfan at GR 665584 but the one to the left is a STEEP, loose and in places scree covered path, again no big deal, just not nice with a heavy pack. The one to the right is better.

Wouldn't really consider it a safety issue for a group of supervised, 16 year old, experienced hill walkers though.
