TR - Craig Cerrig-gleisiad and Fan Frynych
« on: 16:21:41, 25/01/19 »
Earlier this week I headed to the Brecon Beacons National Park for a walk in the snow. I wanted somewhere accessible from a main road but not Pen y Fan and it had to be reasonably short seeing as I couldn't leave home very early. Fan Frynych from the Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad Nature Reserve seemed an obvious choice. In the end I was out for well over 4 hours and took hundreds of pictures. It was a day I will long remember.

You can see lots of pictures and read a full account here because the pictures aren't working in this message.

Great pictures of the snowy landscape, good to get the horses in some of the shots.
We haven't walked up that way for a long time, brings back good memories.

Some lovely winter shots there Claire. I particularly like the cloud formations in your 8th photo - we saw similar in Orkney yesterday.

Thanks. The first time I visited the summit of Fan Frynych was on an unseasonably warm October day as part of a Storey Arms-Fan Fawr-Fan Llia-Fan Frynych- Craig Cerrig-gleisiad hike with my family. I'd wanted to come back and hike up from the base of the cliffs and the conditions were a real contrast to my last visit.

Thanks. The skies were amazing, ever changing. Would have been a good walk to do with "Weatherman Walking".

Thanks. I was lucky to be able to have flexibility to go out on Wednesday and do more work at the weekend.

Thanks. I'd only previously walked across the top previously. I must go back to the nature reserve in the spring.

Thanks. I'd been so envious of others getting out in the snow, when I saw a chance I took it. Well worth it.
