Me and superdawg and Alan turned up at Mungrisdale for this on-a-bit-of-a-whim , almost completely unplanned trundle around the eastern bits of the Northern fells.
First, we climbed The Tongue by its  (apparently) not very much climbed East ridge, which is very steep grass, a few patches of scree and some almost but not quite scrambling on rocks (a bit greasy as it happens).  This climb took a long, long time.
Its a nice ridge with good views eastwards, and there was no rush.
After a short butty break at the little cairn on the top, we went along to visit Bowscale Fell (coffee break) - and then further on to Bannerdale Crags on a path which follows the edge of the corrie.
We sort of toyed with the idea of climbing Blencathra which was hill-fog covered, but common sense and legs full of beta blockers prevailed and we opted instead for the attractive path which goes along to the foot of Souther Fell - which we traversed back to the gentle ministrations of the Mill Inn (I think thats what it was called) for a pint of shandy...    We certainly know how to live it up.

Cracking little walk - 8 miles and 2100 feet of climbing and a reasonably good day for weather.
Some kind of happiness is measured out in miles
