This is the most important Trig Point, next one West is going to be in Canada.

I knew I couldn't trust the OS to show the right place!  Trig bagging is a sad enough occupation without disturbing other people.

Party pooper.

What about tor bagging, only 28 to go on Dartmoor.  ;)

Whoops, so easy to forget that little island.  There is probably one on the Isles of Scilly.

Dover is only a 30 minute drive away for me, so I've walked this section of the North Downs Way many times - the clifftop path over Shakespeare Cliff between Folkestone and Dover is one of my very favourite places.

One day, as I was passing, I noticed a trig pillar that for some reason I'd not noticed before. Probably for the very reason that it's easily missed - and also because it stands just a couple of feet from a 400 ft drop on a crumbling cliff edge - this is my very favourite trig pillar!  :)

Bag it while it's still there!  ;)

While your all busy bagging, give some thought to the small teams that built those trig points and carted the materials up the side of umpteen large mountains in the days before helo lifts. O0

For many for sure. But have you seen where some of them are.  Pack Ibex maybe?

There is a very good article here....

Well worth a read.

This one's only a few minutes from my house, but I've never actually been up to it before.

There's a right of way along the side of the field but every time I've been through it in the past, I've not wanted to disturb the crops. Today, the farmer had just started ploughing, so we were able to nip across to it treading on the bits he would shortly by doing.
