Keela Munro washing instructions
« on: 15:55:21, 12/11/17 »
I've got a Keela Munro. Inside becoming a bit sticky been using it and sweating etc, so requires it's first wash.

The Keela site isn't clear on on SDP (System Dual Protection) washing.
Am I right in saying I have to use Soap flakes. It says no Nikwax or detergent.

Anybody else got one of these?

Is there no little wash care label somewhere inside?

I used to have a Keela Kandura which is basically a longer version of the Keela Munro.

I always used to use Nikwax Tech Wash to wash it and when it needed reproofing used to use the spray on version of Nikwax TX Direct on the outside fabric only. It's very important that you don't reproof the inside lining which would affect breathability and it's ability to wick moisture away from the body.

That's right.  You can use nikwax techwash, it's the wash in reproofer you mustn't use.

Ok thanks. So I can use the Green top stuff, but not the purple top on the Munro.

I have both, but would save me buying some extra stuff if can use the green top stuff!

First few times you wash it, try using a tumble-dryer for the last bit of drying and see how well it sheds water once dried.

Don't automatically reach for the waterproofing spray. The factory DWR coatings are generally way better than stuff like Nikwax and can last quite a while with just washing and heat drying (or a warm iron).

Yes good point, you only need to renew the DWR layer once water stops beading off and soaks in instead.
