Alpkit stove Safety Warning
« on: 16:24:06, 07/10/15 »
hi guys beefy here...  :coolsmiley:
i recently bought an Alpkit Koro stove,
i was very happy with it at first,
very light and stable
after using it a few times i had a jet of liquid gas squirt out of the
braided stainless steel hose where it enters the valve, nearly burning me
and also very nearly setting the tent on fire,  :o
i returned it and received a replacement stove from Alpkit,
unfortunately this one was sent back also with a similar problem,
liquid gas squirted out of the hose at the stove end this time,
i received a full refund from Alpkit ...

Leave only footprints, take only photographs, kill only time ...

guess they came from the same batch?  I'm sure they will get in touch with firemaple who's stove this is to ensure there is no ongoing manufacturing issue.

Could have been a whole different story if it had of caught your clothing or tent, lucky really.

Or caught you in the eye. Burnt my hand on Liquid gas, just a little splash but that was bad enough and scarring took ages to clear.

Sounds like an indication for a complete product recall - one dodgy stove is unfortunate, two is carelessness (to paraphrase O.W.)

i am surprised alpkit haven't recalled it. It has been a bit of a shock watching beefy trying to make safe a stove that has flames bursting out of the hose.

Have you been in touch with Alpkit again recently to ask if the problem has been resolved?

Sounds very dodgy. I'd expect much more than a full refund in light of this being a major safety hazard. Glad you were ok tho.

Beefy was refunded his money after the second stove had the same problem. Alpkit didn't offer any explanation at the time of refund. If they have investigated the stoves to check if they are safe it hasn't been done publicly. The two stoves we had were anything but safe.
