Hi all,
Well noting that my photography had been lacking a little lately - seemed more inclined to go walking than do any serious photography. Either that or when I did have time, weather was against me. But a lack of walking boots at the moment saw me slipping my dads on last night and I set out for the Roaches, knowing it was west facing and a chance of a good sunset.
By the time I arrived it was absolutely peeing it down, but arriving at 17:30 I knew I was way too early so proceeded to have a rest in the car and see if it cleared, anyway it did so I am glad I waited!
Right here is the work, I am very proud of this because the results have blown me back.
First off was to find Doxey Pool, now this shot I was in two minds whether to put it up or not, but I have done so just to demonstrate the difference in light between a fairly hard light and a soft sunset light.
Anyway, the day was still early so I had a walk down to Roach End to see if there was anything of inspiration there for future shots. I came across this path which was really nicely illuminated by the low sun and reflecting all the water as it had just rained:
After A LOT of waiting about the sun was getting somewhere I wanted it to be, here is a picture of brilliant pastel tones across to "The Cloud" there's barely any processing on this, just contrast to boost the blacks:
Here is another looking across the ridge from where I had just come from:
And the escarpment:
Now for what blew me away really, Doxey pool:
Now this next one won't be to everyone taste, I was processing it and by accident I hit maximise on the blacks and it produced this and made the sky purple. In my opinion it improved the image about ten fold and I'm not one for liking over processed images!:
Thanks ever so much for looking,
Granty
