Some years ago a group of were coming down Pen-y-fan after a winter training exercise, conditions were terrible, blizzard at least a foot of snow all the way up, low vis. Near the bottom we passed about twenty young children all under 10 with one teacher, most were not dressed for the conditions, and the teacher only had a small bag.
We'd found it tough going and in those days we were all seriously fit. The leader of our group spoke to the teacher and told her conditions at the top were very bad and she might like to have a rethink about taking a party up, especially as it was getting late in the day. The children looked all in and they hadn't gone far. He was promptly to F-off and mind his own business and off they went up the path. I doubt they made the top.
