The area I walked is on this map for those who are interested. The city of Carlisle is to the west of the motorway
I left early for my walk on Saturday, 8am and I only saw one dog walker as I walked down the road. There were a few more people about when I made the return journey.
Some daffs to start
The village pub
Believe it or not I've never been in
The bird song as I walked was deafening and I could feel the stress of the week at work disappearing. Pavement pounding over I reached a right of way.
The right of way eventually goes through Carlisle Golf Club
The last and only time I've walked this path the mud along this bit was a foot deep. It was dry this time except for one wet bit.
The view north from the path
Entering the golf course
Even a complete idiot couldn't go wrong here
The empty fairway
The club is closed of course so no fear of being clonked on the head by a golf ball.
More arrows keeping me right on track
Warwick Moor Wood ahead
In Warwick Moor Wood
It was lovely in here with the sound of all the birds singing and I could hear a woodpecker too.
Leaning footpath sign
I didn't go all the way to Warwick. The footpath passes Moorhouse Farm and I didn't want to get close to it so I turned tail before I got there and retraced my steps back home. I wondered at this logic a little later when I walked back down my street with hundreds of houses on it.
The muddy bit of the footpath
The whole of this path was like this the last time I was here. Beefy named if the cow sh** walk
Almost back to civilisation
Road signs like this are all over Cumbria
I can never remember what these are called
My walk was a very enjoyable 5 miles and I will definitely do this walk again.
