Congratulations Ridge and Ridgedaughter. Something very satisfying about completing a challenge with your offspring!

Off to Hoy for a tough 12 mile walk along the clifftops with my 12 year old son tomorrow - he already beats me in the Parkrun.

Love walking with my kids but this was her and her Scouting friends, nothing to do with me. She was the oldest in the group of 5 and, from what she was saying when she got back, did most of the map reading.
No doubt I'll hear all about it when she eventually wakes up.

Well after thinking I would not get out this weekend I managed a good walk on Dartmoor,  Friday afternoon/evening and then out again today for a quick walk to fox tor on Bodmin moor.  Far nicer weather than expected, if  little breezy.. O0

For myself, swmbo and the dog we got up into Mid Wales and did a loop along Caban Coch in the Elan Valley, then up and over Y Foel, didn’t see a soul until we rejoined the road to get back to the car. There is a bothy (well two actually) in the area, one of which we really fancy having a night in, never stayed in a bothy before but I’m a certain border collie would love it.

Lovely picture Phil.  How quickly all that snow has gone.

Yes, well done Ridgedaughter - great achievement.

On Saturday I went to Llyn Brenig to do a loop of Llyn Alwen and Brenig.  Imagine my delight  >:( when we arrived to find the Cambrian Rally was taking place, so Llyn Alwen was out of bounds and the whole place was very noisy and very smelly.  We walked alongside the course for about 300m, and boy do those cars go fast.  Hid behind a tree a couple of times as it seemed impossible for them to make the bends!  Had to cut short the walk to just Brenig, which was pleasant.

Off to Ambleside in the Lake District for a long weekend. Walking up hills will be a change from my usual trail walking, it's been a while.

Mind you, when I booked it, I did so with the thought of snow on the hills, good photos and great scenery with my winter gear, however it looks nearer to shorts and tshirt weather.

Planning a bigun out of Glenridding, if all goes to plan, 8 more Wainwright’s and some spectacular views if the forecast stays true  8)

Make sure you but some rocks in your bag, Jontea, to hold you down :)
