Hi all,
A new job has meant I haven't been able to get out as nearly as much as I would like. So this is my first Trip report in 11 months, sorry about that.
Skiddaw at night.

Great write up and pics. I did expect to see lots of grainy pictures of "blackness" so was pleasantly surprised.
Did you find out what the stone monument was?
-
There are lots of grainy pictures that didn't make the final cut haha.
The monument was for, I think 2 lost Shepards, but I couldn't really make it out.

An interesting account of an interesting walk. Shame that the clouds blocked the sunrise.
-
Good for you - there's a real magic about the half light. A little further north and its not dark at all at this time of year. A moonlit walk is also worth considering - the full moon can be bright enough to make torches completely unnecessary, especially if there's a little snow on the ground.
-
A good detailed account, even if the dawn was disappointing. Time lapse videos are still worth watching to show cloud formation and movement.

The Hawell Monument is dedicated to a family of shepherds, three names on the monument apparently with some link to Castlerigg stone circle according to Mr Google.Been past it many times.
