Title: Hello from the Durham Coast
Post by: Dicko on 08:49:38, 03/01/20
Hi all
Getting on now but past includes Summer Mountain Trained leader and Mine leader, DofE leader and organising group walks.  Doing plenty of walking locally with 8 to 15 mile stints with a group of friends but have completed longer routes in the past - eg Hadrian's Wall.  Thinking of getting back into the hills.

Hi - thanks for the welcome.  Took me a while to trawl through all the sites that are out there before I found this one.  Good comprehensive range of topics and plenty of relevant "crack".

Welcome - loved Hadrian's Wall, always enjoyed reading about Roman history so walking past the forts and watch towers was brilliant.  Retracing the footsteps of the legions from 2000 years ago and all that.  Ended up doing it in November during a cold snap, was a beautiful few days.

If you want to get back in to some of the hilly stuff - I do believe there is a good 'rambling' group which does some north pennines routes typically ran by Mike Knipe (chap who runs an outdoor blog and who used to post on this forum I believe).

Did the wall independently for prostate Cancer UK.  Walked with my brother and we picked the last week of September to complete it as we though it would be cooler. Was 23 degrees C coupled with 100% humidity - which made hard work - much prefer winter walking!

Hi neighbour - coming over soon to do Blencathra - again.  Will try a different route this time but will end up back at the White Horse for food.
