This weekend followed the so-called 'Beast from the East' though much of the snow that had fallen was subsequently blown away by Storm Emma. Still, a great day among super scenery

Superb photos - the light is beautiful and that panorama looking across to Newlands and Coledale is just breathtaking!

Another great set of photos - thanks, Dave. In particular, the waterfalls look good.
Seems like the wind effectively scoured the ridge.

Great blog post Dave, stunning photos of Newlands, and especially liked the sunset over Derwent Water

I agree, the snow was so cold it didn't bond well. The following day they had gusts around 100mph so presumably most of the snow ended up in the Irish Sea somewhere

Great photos - I've only ever climbed Castle Crag at the end of a long walk and it's a steep slog, but the views are great - your route looks like a great walk.

That looked a difficult walk Dave but some fabulous photos, well done
Sounds like you had a bit of a close shave
Lovely photos of the frozen waterfalls.
