A day out on Carrauntoohil

:D What a weather day it was. Warm sun and no wind and glorious views. Check the link to see the pictures. Howling \Ridge is NOT a walking route however!

Many thanks. Agreed.  Howling ridge is only for the experienced.  If you are ever over in this neck of the woods perhaps I will take you up.

Thank you  :)  You may want to have a word with midweekmountain first though and review your rash offer. I believe he is still in therapy after leading me and beefy up Needle Ridge  ;)   ;D

So you are denying cutting the cross down then?

Never been climbing in Ireland last time I went to southern ireland we did all the 3000ers in a week which was good BUT I remember walking down under that Howling ridge and thinking it looked wonderfull.

Then I found a book called Munsters Mountains by Denis Lynch its got loads of really good looking stuff in it and always wanted to go back someday.

Did not know about the cross or the reasons for erecting it or cutting it down but it seems a shame cos it looks(ed) stunning.

BTW, that is a joke on my part, I have no views on it either other than to my mind it was an act of vandalism! :)

The cross is now back up thanks to local landowners and guides etc. It is a lovely spot to have the summit picture taken. Here's a link to pictures of the re-erection by a local photographer.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152790980887860&type=1
