Mam Tor - Lose Hill Ridge
« on: 00:35:30, 12/06/09 »
When you have been at work all day what better way to relax than to get your boots on and go for a evening walk. So went for a walk from Castleton to do the Mam Tor - Lose Hill Ridge and to my surprise never meet a single person on the walk. That didn't know what they was missing as I stood at the summit of Mam Tor at 10.30pm watching the sun set behind Kinder Scout. Magical!!!. In fact it was that good I might even do another one tomorrow night after work if weathers good..
Here's just a few photos I took from tonights walk.

Looking Towards Winnatts Pass near Castleton.

Looking towards Mam Tor from Back Tor.

Looking back towards Back Tor.

Looking towards Rushup Edge.

The sun slowly sinking behind Kinder Scout from the summit of Mam Tor.

Kinders southern edge from Mam Tor. At 10.30pm.

Hope you enjoy

Mark

The view of Back Tor is especially good.

I'm looking to move house next year and the call of the dales is getting pretty loud!

These boots were made for walking so that's just what I'll do. After I've re-proofed them of course...

:) Thanks for sharing your fantastic photos. There's a website dedicated to sharing Peak District photos, videos, comments and even audio that you might be innerested in. It's http://www.mypeakexperience.org.uk [nofollow]. There's a page for Mam Tor that would be great place for you to share you stunning images.

Cheers, Bill

Stunning photos Mark - i'm really getting fired up for my first peak walk (and yes I'll be taking my camera too - if they come out half as good I'll be happy), thanks.

Rich.

Couldnt agree more about the evening walking, if its fine its a fantastic way to finish a working day.

Try White Edge and Froggatt if there is to be a good sunset -  its very special up there watching the sun go down

We've been definitely vaguely intending to do evening walks recently, not for the dusky views but because I don't think walking once a week is building up my stamina and strength quick enough.

I can only see the first and the last photos, which is irritating since we'll hopefully be doing part of this walk sometime soon. The first pic's great, but is there a problem with others at all?
