We got the bus to Grange on Saturday for a day walk, Squeaky was with us again. It was too cold (at least it was for us!) to wild camp, we don't enjoy below freezing camping. It was quite a nice day mind and we were going onto Catbells.

We began the climb up to Hause Gate and we climbed at Squeaky speed. Faster than our normal pace ;)

AW wrote that this was an easy gradient except for the zig zags near the top. It might be easier if you are not going at Squeaky speed :D

It took one hour and 5 minutes from Grange to get onto the summit. We were 20 minutes faster than what I thought we would be.

There were a few people around and it was difficult to get a photo with nobody else on.
We were hungry and didn't stay long on the summit. We hoped to have some lunch out of the wind with a view of the Newlands Valley.

We took a pathless route away from the Hause Gate path and found a spot away from everyone to have some lunch

We got to Braithwaite before 2pm, 30 minutes earlier than I thought we would, Squeaky speed again :) Our route was Grange - Manesty - Catbells - Brunt Crag - Skelgill - Little Braithwaite - Braithwaite. 10.9km with 424m ascent.

Grand clear photos again. Catbells is the only summit where I had to join a queue to descend - bad timing at half-term holiday.

:) It wasn't too bad last Saturday, it was busy but not too many people on the summit really and they were all pretty quiet folk, no shouty and loud peeps ;)

Great stuff April. Fond memories of Catbells but not the wet rock as you descend to the col between the summit and lower Catbells. Mind you it was hissing down!
Oops and ouch!

Thank you Penygadair :) Nice to see you back on here O0 I do hope you are ok.
