With a favourable weather forecast, I decided to take in one of the seven sevens plus a neighboring summit last Saturday. Slieve Commedagh is the second highest mountain in the Mournes at 767 metres high. Starting from Donard Park, I followed a good track through the forest to the ice house. After reaching the ice house I picked up the Glen river track following its course to the saddle between Commedagh and Donard. As views opened up of the Annalong valley, I followed the Mourne wall to Commedagh's summit. I had thought of descending the Shanslieve ridge but strong winds made me change my plans. I followed the wall to Slieve Corragh. The highlight view was the Ben Crom Reservoir panorama. After lunch I followed the brandypad back to the saddle before picking up the glen river track back to the car park. Total distance was just over 11km.
