Wezzit? - England
« on: 08:37:39, 10/07/13 »
Following the popularity of the Cryptic Mountains thread I thought I'd start some Wezzit? threads. Here you have to work out/guess where the picture was taken (or what it is of depending on what the poster requests). If you get it right it is your turn to post a picture.
This thread is only for ENGLAND. There are similar threads for Wales, Scotland and Overseas. All pictures must be from upland areas (hills, moors, mountains).

To get it started - what is this stream?

Lingcove Beck?

I think I'll stick with the Esk.  Lingcove Beck is in the middle distance about 1k further away.  ;)

Try further inland (and don't tell them your name).

Well I'll eat hay with a donkey if that's in Langdale.  :o

Langdale  ???  Surely Brandywell is right. Is this not the Esk looking up to Bowfell ?

If I'm wrong save me some of that hay John ;D

As soon as Eskdale was mentioned I thought "that does rather look like Lingcove Bridge". However I am now rather puzzled. I scanned that shot from an old print of mine. I had never visited Eskdale before 2008, by which time I was using a digital SLR. I did camp as Lingcove Bridge but was not carrying a camera.
This photo was taken around 1998 during a trip to the Langdales. The next image on the film after that one was this one, a rather simpler ID and definitely Langdale.
The nearest I can find online is this one http://where2walk.co.uk/lake_district/classic_circuits/the-langdale-pikes/ taken from quite a lot further left.

However, see next post...

Having found this (http://www.hallflatfarm.co.uk/IMAGES/gallery%202%20-%20bowfell%20from%20upper%20eskdale%20weblarge.jpg) I have to agree that River Esk (with Lingcove Beck in the background) is right. That makes it Brandywell's turn.

Now how did I end up with a photo of it on a film where the rest of the shots are definitely Langdale?

That's weird if it was on the same film strip of Langdale photos, but you said in reply10 that it was a scan of an old print.  Old photos can sometimes get all mixed up together I suppose.  Sometimes I can't remember where a photo was taken from a few months ago, never mind 15 years.  :-[

Here's one taken a few days ago, the question is - where was it taken from ?
