Training oh yes, joined a gym last week and shedding the lbs already :)

Told them i'm sick of being the bloke at the back holding everyone up, so have got me on a cardio plan.

As for mountains, i need to get up them as much as possible, as well as getting as much distance walking in the bag.

Going in April... I'll give you an up to date report on the state of the toilets and how hard it is in May!

Just got an email saying all Nepal airlines have just been banned by the EU.  Makes the flight to Lukla more fun!

Yep read that on the BMC facebook page, very slim chance of anything going wrong if you think they have approx 250 climbers a day summit, and only a couple of air accidents a year.

The season is short for trekking and climbing, it doesn't last all year. The trecking season is generally October/November and February/March to catch the best weather and avoid the extreme cold and monsoon. There are many aircraft accidents in Nepal, the only Royal Nepalese Airlines 'Pilatus Porter' which got myself and my wife out of Shyangboche, crashed during the same run two weeks later, killing the pilot. Whilst we were flying out the owner of Yeti Airways, the company that flew us to Lukla, was killed along with the helicopter pilot, when it crashed, whilst on a rescue mission to collect a Belgian trekker suffering altitude sickness. he died too.
It's a fantastic place all the same, you just have to do it - you takes your chance.

Be sure to get up to Kala Pattar from Gorak Shep, a superb viewpoint for Everest. If it's clear in the afternoon, go up to watch the sunset on Everest.

Here is a view I had of it last month.
