Romania Adventure Holiday
« on: 22:09:55, 17/04/16 »
I've booked myself onto an adventure holiday in Romania for next summer and would love some info from people who have been before.

This will be my first time hiking abroad and I will be going alone.

Any advice you guys n gals can give?

Thanks in advance.

Is this on your own, with friends or as part of a group of strangers?

Yeah,  its costing me £1100, plus spending money.

I've got plenty of time to save up for it though, its not until June 2017.  I did that onpurpose to give me time to be able to pay for it, otherwise I would be going later this year.

Certainly something I would think about although I'm not sure I have the patience to wait that long  :D

Why did you choose Romania?

I'm a horror fan and the thought of going to Draculas castles interested me.

Plus it was at a price range I was comfortable with, the abroad holidays I want to go on are a bit too expensive at the moment.

I've walk abroad quite a bit, including Romania. In fact, I'm going again later this year to a different bit.

I've been to Bran, and all round there including Piatra Craiuli and Fagaras Ridge and am familiar with small group holidays.

I'd be happy to give any advice I can - maybe best to PM me if you prefer.

Cheers

I was trekking in Romania a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. The mountains are superb with some amazing ridge walking along the way. Sinaia and the Bucegi mountains were highlights.
Great food and great people. Bucharest is a fascinating place so make sure you have time to explore it. I would not get too excited about Dracula's castle though.
Dont believe the hype about this country I would definitely recommend it and you will have a great time.

Sure the OP will have a great time O0

Have walked once or twice before in the Canaries.  Always Solo.

Some great hiking on those parts.  Especially the Teide National Park.

Been thinking about doing some solo walking/hiking in Eastern Europe for a few years now...lots of lovely mountain ranges to hike in.
