Howdy

Booked myself 4 days in Mallorca in late September to spend a few days hiking in the mountains.

Probably going to stay in/around the town of Soller.

If anyone has any hints/tips on must do walks (pref higher level - moderate to scramble types) or other info (car hire/use of public transport/all things to consider when in Mallorca), then feel free to share O0

It's a 'He'...very knowledgeable.
You can google the TR's without joining, I think.
He's not on this Forum...he's an 'ultralighter'....

I would recommend are Teix and the Archdukes pathway from Valdermossa, Cuber reservoir over Es Cornadors and down Pillgrim steps to  Biniaraix then Soller.

The best Scrambles I have done on the island are the Cavel Bernat ridge and the Torrent de Parreis gorge, another good day out is canyoning in the mega impressive Torrent Des Gorg Blau Canyon/Sa Fosca but you would be advised to do this with a tour operator.

The biggest problem is getting to these routes with no car, have heard reports recently that there are too many walkers for the buses to cope with.

How did you get on? We've just come back from a few weeks in Mallorca and those mountains provided the backdrop to our stay. I looked at a book about the walk and would love to be younger and fitter to walk it, it looks and sounds stunning. We did quite a bit of walking but there were only a couple of bits of that I'd be capable of!

I'd also be interested in hearing how you got on, Dom.

I've just booked our Easter holidays on the island (Alcudia), on the basis that it has mountains/good walking for me and sun and swimming pools for the kids.

I am considering hiring a 'ped to get around.  Does anyone know any easy way to get back up to Escorca from the bottom at Sa Calobra after having scrambled the Torrent de Parreis (I.e. lift/taxi/bus), or would it be a matter of spending several hours scrambling back up?!

I found this - not cheap but sounds good.

Thanks, I found that too (I'd already done the Googling).  I can't imagine needing guiding for this, and 55 EUR is a lot just for lift!
I was really after some 'insider' info.

I am going back to Porto Soller in September for my second September stint walking on the Tramuntana, a 10 day stay this time 11-21 st. There are plenty of route ideas available online and as others said before the classics like the Archdukes Way are a must. The only real downer is that the summit of Puig Major is off limits as it is military property, but you can get almost to the summit with a bit of invention...
The paths around the Tramuntana are pretty good, in fact if you stray off piste the various types of vicious spikey vegetation will have you! The area can be downloaded as tiles on Viewranger really cheaply, if you have viewranger that is  ;)
We weren't born to just pay bills and die...

Sorry guys.

I didn't make it to Mallorca.  Was carrying an injury at the time so had to scrap my flight/trip.
