Weekend in heaven...........
« on: 22:59:38, 18/11/16 »
for a few days as we drove, walked and bounced our way around this part of snowdonia. Weeping window in Caernarfon, cottage in nantmor, walked in Cwm Bychan, bounced below, soaked in a hot tub and had a beer in front of a log fire. Annual visit at this time of year and never tire of it, bliss  O0 8)

Enjoyed that TR. I've walked Cwm Bychan a couple of times. There's a cut off from the pylons which brings you out above Sygun copper mine with excellent views across to Snowdon. Mind you it feels like the lost world until you can see Sygun below you.

Great write up and pictures, Redeye.  O0  The slate mine in Blaenau Ffestiniog sounds interesting - I hadn't heard of it before.

There's a lot to enjoy in Blaenau now. Bounce Below, Zip Wires and downhill mountain biking.

And the Deep Mine Tour and Quarry Explorer

Keeps big kids amused for hours. Well worth a visit

Cheers for the links, Penygadair - the Deep Mine Tour looks fascinating. We did the underground tour at the Big Pit: National Coal Museum when we were on holiday last year and found that really interesting.

Have duly added this to the "to-do" list!  O0

Beddgelert has become almost a second home to us over the past couple of years, Cwm Bychan being particularly familiar. Very interesting blog Redeye and thanks for posting  O0

Thanks for all the replies  O0
We did the extended cwm bychan walk a couple of years back but this time it was quite boggy so we stayed on track.
Another good play day out is this http://www.go-below.co.uk/caving_trip2.asp
Done the one at Conwy but this takes it to another level. Next year hopefully  ;D

Great TR redeye & thanks for posting.
What a gorgeous place with plenty to keep everyone occupied. It's always nice to be introduced to somewhere new which can than go into the old memory bank for future use  O0

Yep. That attraction is in the old Cwmorthin Quarry which was known locally as "The Abbatoir" although it had a reasonable safety record.
Haven't done this myself but I'm told that taking a spare pair of underpants is advisable.  ;D

I assume that you will be familiar with the walk up Cwmorthin and on to Rhosydd and the Moelwyns.

Another thanks for the replies  O0
Not done the walk from Cwmorthin but have been around Rhosydd, somewhere on my blog.
I got a lot of inspiration off this forum years ago Innominate Man so never mind sharing things on here, it's what it's all about really. Glad you like it  O0
