Offa's Dyke newbie
« on: 04:05:07, 20/05/09 »
Hi.  I've recently retired and will be walking Offa's Dyke with Footpath Holidays this July.  I'm from the US.  I would like to walk Hadrian's wall next year.

Howdy Pardner  ;)

Offa's Dyke is a nice, scenic route

Hadrian's Wall walk has lots of history

Enjoy your trip  :)

Doing Offa's Dyke in a few weeks time - will let you know how we get on.

I did it about 15 yrs ago N to S (4 days - I was fit then) - really enjoyed it - doing S to N this time (taking 6 days - well S to N is uphill!).

Did Hadrian's Wall last year - much easier than Offa's - very interesting and historic in the middle section.

Hi multreda

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the info, everyone.  I will be walking with "Foot-path Holidays' and we will take 16 days.  There are three sections.  We will spend the first section in Hay-on-Wye, the second in Bishop's Castle, and the third in Manchester.  I have my train tickets bought(flying into Manchester from Pittsburgh-was the cheapest)

This was a looooong time ago - when I was about 30 and a keen fit fell runner. If I manage it in 6 days I will be very happy.

More like a gentle jog on the flat and downhill bits and a slow wheezing on the uphill, carrying all mine and the dog's stuff - staying B+B.
