I'm from south east London and regularly walk in the Lake District and the North West Highlands.

Always welcome to travel for a decent spell in the hills, not much decent walking round my area.

Hello. Have you tried any of the walks in Essex? They have loads and you don't have to travel as far. :)

Welcome from South West London, not so far from you.  I like hill walking too but I don't usually go as far from London as you do.  Have you tried walking in the Peak District? (great walks, not so far to go and relatively easy to get to by train from Euston).  There are lots of trip reports and recommendations in the Regions section of the Forum.  We have only recently discovered that the Dark Peak area around Edale is accessible by train and have done some great walks (not long distances as I'm getting long in the tooth).  You can see a list of them here:   http://www.greenlives.org.uk/Peakwalk.html  Just click on a link on that page to go to any that you want to look at.

Best Wishes

John

I've done lots of walking in the Peaks, as well as the Dales and Wales. I'm retired now so have plenty of time to travel further afield. I normally go to the Lakes with friends, if I'm on my own I prefer the Highlands as I can go out all day and not see anyone, it's a great way to completely wind down.
