Having walked from Kirk Yetholm to Strathcarron last year with the last 85 miles being along the Cape Wrath Trail, I returned last month to complete this trail with the intention of reaching Cape Wrath in ten days. Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out as planned and I had to finish at Inchnadamph. As my trip report is quite a long one with many photos, I have posted it here http://bit.ly/2uerlSF [nofollow] Hope you enjoy it.

What a pity you didn't manage to get as far as you hoped, but if you're not well a wet tent isn't the place to be. Never mind it will still be there next time. It's a fabulous area I did the Ullapool to the Cape section in May http://donthaveone-owen.blogspot.co.uk/ I really must go back and explore the Assynt hills more. Better luck next time.

Hi Owen, Interesting reading your blog about the bit I didn't get to do. As a matter of interest, what tent is that you have in the photo, I have my eye on getting something similar.

It's a Tarptent Notch, https://www.tarptent.com/notch.html uses trekking poles as it's main support. The main disadvantage is you have to order them from the states and pay import duty once they arrive. I got the half mesh half solid inner which I though better for windy Scotland. I have to say it's proved quite a lot stronger than I though when I first got it, it's stood up to some very heavy rain and wind as well as being covered in wet snow.

It looks very much like the Trekkertent Drift 2 that I've been looking at, which also uses two trekking poles. I have one of their Stealth 1 tents, which is fine but a bit tight on space so I was looking at something bigger, it also uses trekking poles. Trekkertent are a small Scottish company. I'll have a look at the Notch.
