I'm looking into walking the Greater Ridgeway next year. North to South which I feel is better.

After completing the Wessex Ridgeway, and loving the intensely rural walking, it is on my wishlist to continue northwards to Norfolk. Accomodation is the only problem - single B&Bs are costly and I'm not sure I would get much sleep alone in a tent (especially if there was a thunderstorm like we had last night!).
Most walks start by finding the way out of the car park

Not done the Ridgeway yet, but would love to do it - it's high on my "to do" list of UK LDPs.

Hope you have a great time, and don't forget to tell us all about it afterwards!  :)

Should have done it last weekend - you would have had over 2000 walkers and runners join you  :)

I did the whole of the ridgeway in 5 days in 2011. I did cycle it,  (yes I hear the hiss & boo's). Though this was from a time perspective, because only had a week off work and needed to do the forward mileage, then return back to the campervan, then drive to the next point etc.

Though always rated the ridgeway. I used to walk sections of it with my grandfather in the 80's.

Doing the ridgeway at night is one of the most scariest things ever!

One section down past Waylands Smithy. I was getting behind schedule, so did a bit more miles then planned. Then I got to a certain point darkness was coming in. Looked at the map thinking easy road route back to the van. No, it was really a long way around. So opted to get the lights out and cycle back down the ridgeway to the campervan. All I saw was wildlife eyes reflecting!

Thank you to everyone for your comments. The weathers not looking good and as we are wild camping the whole way i think i can say we are in for an eventful week. At least the problem of finding somewhere to wash has been solved haha. I will post some photos when i get back if i get to take any!
