TR - Walk from Coniston
« on: 22:23:52, 23/07/17 »
I thought I should get some pics up from our recent trip to the Lakes before Photobucket stops me posting them.

Setting off from Coniston we headed up towards the copper mines.

Turning right up Hole Rake we then headed up to Wetherlam

The weather was stunning

We headed on to Swirl How up the prison band where we abandoned my daughter while my son and I carried on to Great Carrs and then paused at the aircraft memorial.

And then on to Grey Friar

We then headed back to Swirl How, thinking we should probably collect  my daughter, and then walked out down to Levers Water and then onwards back to Coniston.

Thanks A&B.

The weather was great that day. My daughter didn't enjoy hill walking as much as she and I hoped.

Great photo's there Mark, nice to see you enjoying the beautiful Lakes,
Weather looked fab  O0

I must say Wetherlam looked a bit different from my visit in February when it was covered in snow and ice. The rest of those summits I've still to do  :)
Walking is the world’s oldest exercise and today’s modern medicine.

Thanks John and Karl, it was a glorious day the only problem was making sure we had enough water.

John, the ascent up to Swirl How is a lovely, scrambley walk.

Thanks adalard, it was definitely worth dragging our selves out of London at stupid o'clock in the morning to get there.

Worth it though and, if you going that far, you need to leave early to make the best of every second.
