Skomer
« on: 16:50:19, 09/03/19 »
Hi all, thinking of going to Skomer Island in May and doing the coast walk.  Unfortunately i am terrified of heights so can only manage coast walks if the path isn't right at the edge. Does anyone have any experience of this walk who could give me a clue as to whether I might manage it. Thanks, Mandy

We tried to go to Skomer in May last year - to see the puffins - the weather was good and all the tickets for the boat had gone! You can't book ahead and apparently people had been queueing since 0600!
When I went years ago it wasn't a problem to get across but just too popular now. On the island you will have to follow the marked route, some of which was fairly near the edge but the actual route may have changed sine I went.
Puffins are great O0

So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

Thanks Jac.  We had planned to go camping there for a couple of days. Sounds like it might not be such a good idea if there's no guarantee of getting on the boat.  Might have to look at the Farne Islands instead for my puffin fix.
