Anybody bagged Benson Knott?
« on: 21:36:18, 10/01/08 »
I'm considering a quick bag or two around Kendal Saturday - and one of the hills is Benson Knott at Kendal. Anybody been up there?
Any info on parking...or anything else would be useful.

Looks like the best bet is from the Appleby road but not sure about parking

Thanks Kidstypike - you've drawn my attention to some possible spots....

I just noticed on the map a disused quarry next to a minor road running from where the main road crosses the railway line - a bit of unfenced road. SD542951

I bet thats the spot.  (You have to have good eyes to spot the road!)

There's also a possible spot (now my attention is focussed on that little area) at Mealbank - unfenced road next to a little wood 400 metres NW

The second hill is Cunswick Scar and Scout Scar - but there's a car park in etween the two (has to be short walks becasue I'll have two dogs and one of them is, like me,  no youngster)

We did Cunswick & Scout Scars on the 10th December from the car park. Theres pictures on my page if you want to see. It's a grand little walk if it's clear.
It's walk No.103

Thanks for that - it looks quite good -  just right for Tammy. The forecast is for frost and sunshine, so it should be nice.
I probably wont take quite as many pics as your goodself!

No problems Mike, I'm hoping to go up Reston Scar and Hugill Fell tomorrow from Stavely.

Ive not been on either of those two -Ive only just mended the big hole in my trousers from the last visit, so it might be a while before I get back to Staveley!
I'm hoping for a barbed-wire free day on saturday.
But I'll watch out with interest for the report.. Does this mean you've finally started to return to "proper" hills? (if you'll forgive the cheekiness.)
