Not really classed as a walk but we did do about 4 miles. We went there for a new pair of boots and as always I took the camera along. There are some pictures in the "Visions of Cumbria" section of our site.

beatiful shades up there this time of year......never seen that Bridge house, either...that's quaint!
Can I ask Dave, as a walker of great magnitude, do you always buy the same boots to promote continuity, or do you chop & change each time you wear some out, and would you say expensive is always best?

I wouldn't know about being a "walker of some magnitude" but my last 3 maybe 4 pairs of boots have the Brasher Hillmaster Classic GTX. The pair I got yesterday were from John Gaynor Sports and cost £69.99 on offer. I don't need a rigid boot nowadays, I have enough problems with my joints without wearing crampons etc. I find the Hillmaster suits my needs perfectly and as always been easy to wear the first time on. I have never bothered having them resoled , one they wear down a bit they are used for the more sedate areas of the Yorkshire Dales. Hope this answers your question.

Dave

Excellent pictures as usual Dave.

One question the picture of Stockghyll Pike. Did you use a tripod as the exposure time looks to be long(ish) to get that effect with the water?

These boots were made for walking so that's just what I'll do. After I've re-proofed them of course...

Don't even own a tripod Dazza. The camera was hand held for both pictures. The settings on the camera where 1/6 F4.0 according to the picture details if that makes any sense.

In that case you must have a very steady hand.

Well they were taken before a visit to the pub  ;). Seriously though I think I was resting on an iron fence for the first one but the second was feffo hand held.
Cheers,
Dave
