The bird is an osprey. They are much more common in Florida than they are in Scotland. We saw 7 of them within about 200 metres.

There is usually a pair at Loch Garten and another at Loch of the Lowes. There are more across Scotland. We saw one last year just a mile or two from home, hovering over the river. In Florida, we have probably seen well over 100 ospreys (not all at the same time).
