Occasionally they get the full cleaning treatment with a session in the dishwasher.
Must admit that all this washing does shorten their life.

Dishwasher ??  :D :D  would have thought the temp a dishwasher goes to would kill them pretty quickly.

Andy, Im no expert but would have thought that they mean drying them without use of excessive heat or being too close to a heat source such as a hot radiator.  Ive always been told to air dry them in a room but that can be accelerated by stuffing them with paper to soak up some moisture - paper can be replaced a couple of times if reqd

I think its meant to be paper too.. though I have boots 'dryers' which are just Silica gel desiccant. They draw the moisture out.
I bet you have sacksful at work?

I wash the insides of my boots regular. it helps keep them fresher but it also lifts the oils and minerals that stop goretex and event from being able to work properly. Also at the end of a season be it fabric boots at the end of summer the best thing for them is a good clean before you store them away. Salts and so on from sweat will degrade the inside of the boot.

For best results from drying keep them away from a heat source like radiators, air dry is best and if you need them quickly them forced air from a fan is best. Just a normal table top fan will dry boots overnight if needed. suspend the boots upside down by tying the laces around the sole of the boot and onto either side of a coat hanger. hang up the coat hanger suspending the boots into the airflow of the fan. put something under the boots to catch the drips.

Look after your boots and they will work better for longer.

Peter how well do you find those balls work? And do you have to dry them out afterwards? (I have some but have never found them that successful - but tbh I've only gagged around once or twice with them.)

Ahem, tbh I don't know. I've used them for years, they don't do much when the boots are sodden. Dry by putting into a microwave.
There are warm (and cold) air dryers available now. Bit like stuffing a hairdryer in on a cool setting. I think one of those may be on my pressie list...  (  :'(  though I don't know who I would give the list to.. )

I knew this balls conversation was risky!!

Apols for my typo earlier - by gagged I meant faffed. Think it might have been auto correct and poor editing on my part.

Yes, I fancy those plug in dryers too. But reviews seem mixed.
